AICTE and British Council E-Learning Teacher Training Workshop at 
Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore. 
AICTE Chairman Prof Anil D Saharasbudhe and AICTE Director were the Chief Guests.

British Council and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)  held a teacher training program on ‘E-learning: challenges and opportunities’ under the SWAYAM initiative. 
The event was held at Sri Krishna College of Engineering earlier today (21st April 2017).

Prof. Anil.D.Sahasrabudha, chairman, AICTE; Dr.Manpreet Singh, Director AICTE; Dr. U.Ramesh, regional officer, AICTE and Ms. Parul Gupta, Head EU, British Council were the chief guests of the function. 
Smt. S. Malarvizhi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee of Sri Krishna Institutions, presided over the function.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Anil.D.Sahasrabudha, Chairman, AICTE, said ‘SWAYAM- Free Online Education’ is a program initiated by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)  It is designed to achieve access, equity and quality in the field of education. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for those students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.

Through SWAYAM, teachers are constantly updated and curriculum for various subjects are revised to meet the requirements of a continuously growing nation.  SWAYAM provides a platform for students to easily access quality education from any part of the country.  Apart from theoretical learning, internships are now made mandatory, so that students have a better understanding of working environments.  Around 280 courses are already available on the portal with over 2000 courses estimated to be made accessible over the next 2 years.

“Smart India Hackathon’17"

Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET), Coimbatore, hosted the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2017, claimed to be the world’s largest digital-product building competition.
The two-day event, co-organized by AICTE, MHRD, My Gov, NIC and Nasscom, is a 36-hour non-stop digital programming competition during which student teams from all over India offered innovative solutions to technical problems faced by various government departments.
SKCET is the nodal centre in Coimbatore for the grand finale and is among the two centres in Tamil Nadu, the other being at Chennai.

Students from Sri Krishna College of Technology, Coimbatore won first place in “Smart India Hackathon’17 under Ministry of External Affairs”. The team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh besides medals and certificates were given at the event where R. Chandrashekhar, President of NASSCOM was the chief guest.
The event held under the aegis of New Delhi Institute of Management (The Nodal Center chosen by AICTE for Ministry of External Affairs). in New Delhi had the participation of SKCT team comprising Seenivasan P,Satish Kumar N,Vikram Kumar C ,Revathy MR, Nithya M, and Sujitha R and the team was guided by Dr.A. JameerBasha (HoD -IT) SKCT and Industry Mentor Arun ( Dell EMC, Alumni SKCT) and the team had chosen the problem statement of “Email Spoofing detection, prevention and alerting”, a problem statement posted by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
